On October 1, Toronto Public Library will launch a campaign to raise awareness of the growing selection of current and popular digital content available, including ebooks, emagazines, video and music.
“We want to let everyone know about the great selection of digital content at the library. It’s our fastest growing area!” said Anne Bailey, Acting City Librarian. “Even though demand is high among those who know, we know many people aren’t yet aware they can borrow ebooks and emagazines or stream music and video with a library card. We hope this campaign will create even more interest and borrowing.”
A library card gives access to thousands of online movies, television episodes, music and audiobooks. Last year alone, there was a 96 percent increase in ebook content and this has grown by another 83 percent so far this year. Digital content now makes up 10 percent of the total circulation at Toronto Public Library, and this number is expected to grow.
We are looking for other fun and creative ways our partner libraries are reaching their patrons. If your library has a great way to spread the hoopla, please let us know. You might find your library spotlighted on library.hoopladigital.com.
