Bonus Borrows Are Back in November!

Great news for libraries and patrons! hoopla’s popular Bonus Borrows program is back for the month of November. Starting today and running through November 30, hundreds of videos, comics, eBooks, and audiobooks are available for patrons to check out without using any of their monthly hoopla Instant borrows—and at no cost to libraries! With themes like Happily Ever After, Teen Scene, Historical Fiction, and more, hoopla users of any taste are sure to find something to enjoy. Help Kids Celebrate Thanksgiving with hoopla!

The Thanksgiving holiday is coming up next week, and families everywhere are looking forward to time off, get-togethers (whether in person or virtual), and lots of good food. hoopla is the perfect destination for patrons looking to share the spirit of the holiday with little ones. Our content experts have put together collections of eBooks, audiobooks, and videos that explain the origins and traditions of Thanksgiving, help them explore the concept of thankfulness and gratitude, and offer plenty of seasonal fun! You’ll find all the materials you need to promote these Thanksgiving collection on the hoopla Resource Center.

There you’ll also find resources to let your patrons know about Bonus Borrows! Through the end of November, these select titles are available to patrons without using any of their hoopla Instant Borrows, and at no cost to your library. Whatever their taste, hoopla users are sure to find something perfect for their long holiday weekend, whether they’re staying home or hitting the road.

Celebrate Star Wars Reads Month All October

Since the original movie debuted in theaters in 1977, Star Wars has appealed to fans of every generation, all around the world. Never has that been more true than it is now, with new movies on the horizon, live-action and animated shows available for streaming (with more in development)—and, of course, plenty of books and comics! This month marks the tenth year that October has been designated as Star Wars Reads month, and hoopla is here to help your patrons do just that. We have collections of eBooks and comics perfect for readers of any age, and music to set the mood! Visit the hoopla Resource Center for images you can use on social media to spread the word, and there’s also a fun activity book with pages you can print and distribute or use for in-library programming.

Celebrate Classical Music Month with hoopla

September is Classical Music Month! The observance started in 1994 to recognize the musicians, conductors, and composers who have brought and continue to bring this timeless music into our lives. Dating back literally centuries, there is so much for music lovers to explore—and what better way to do so than with hoopla! Our music experts have put together a wonderful collection to start with, encompassing everything from beloved favorites by names like Beethoven and Mozart to contemporary soundtracks from John Williams, and so much more. And this is just a small sampling of the incredible classical music selection available to patrons from hoopla. Encourage them to listen all month long with printable and digital assets available on the hoopla Resource Center!

Graphic Novel Book Club – Fall Edition

hoopla is pleased to announce the latest edition of our Graphic Novel Book Club! The new Spotlight Selection is Ms. Marvel Vol. 1: No Normal, written by G. Willow Wilson with art by Adrian Alphona. Kamala Khan is an ordinary teenager and a superhero fangirl who suddenly discovers her own superpowers. Along with being a great story on its own, this is a perfect time for superhero fans to get into Kamala’s story, as a six-episode series is coming to Disney+ later this year. We have put together plenty of materials to facilitate Book Club meetings, including a discussion guide, a Q&A with a Marvel editor, and more, all available on our hoopla Book Club Hub. We also have assets to help you spread the word to your patrons on our hoopla Resource Center!

August Means Bonus Borrows!

All this month, hoopla is pleased to welcome back its successful Bonus Borrows program! Through August 31, hoopla users have access to hundreds of carefully selected titles from hoopla’s Instant collection that they can check out and enjoy without using any of their monthly allotment of borrows. These borrows are also free to libraries! Titles are available in video, audiobook, eBook, and comics, and encompass a variety of popular themes, including All Things British, Romance, Sci-Fi, Series You’ll Love, and more! Get the word out to your patrons with assets from the hoopla Resource Center, and enjoy these titles all month long.

Kids’ Takeover on hoopla!

It’s the height of summer, and the thought of school is still a little way off on the horizon. Even if the kids haven’t started getting antsy yet, chances are good that their adults have. hoopla is here to help with a Kids’ Takeover! Our media experts have put together collections in video, music, audiobooks, eBooks, and comics that will provide hours of entertainment to keep young patrons occupied for the rest of the summer. You can visit our hoopla Resource Center for handy assets to promote these collections to your patrons, both in your library and on social media.

hoopla Book Club Summer Spotlight

The hoopla Book Club’s Spotlight Selection for summer 2021 has been revealed! Our choice for this quarter is Learning to Speak Southern, the second novel from Lindsey Rogers Cook. Part love letter to the city of Memphis, the story follows Lex as she returns to her hometown following a personal tragedy and discovers a chance to get to know her late mother. We think library patrons and book club participants will find this novel to be a deep, moving experience that will be a highlight of the summer. With the eBook and audiobook included in the hoopla Instant collection, readers and listeners can check out and enjoy the book simultaneously, with no holds and no waiting.

Harry Potter Book Night is an annual event that encourages fans everywhere to celebrate their love of the Wizarding World and all the wonderful stories that take place in it. Maybe your library is hosting a gathering, or maybe your patrons will be celebrating virtually. Either way, hoopla has you covered!
